This disc includes an odd combination of works, but it's welcome nevertheless. This is especially because of the presence of one of Villa's great early works for orchestra: Amazonas. The CD also includes two Bachianas Brasileiras and the Guitar Concerto, nicely performed here by guitarist Roberto Aussel, with strong support from the Lyon National Orchestra under Eugene Krivine.
Recorded at the Auditorium Maurice Ravel, Lyon, from 27 September to 2 October 1994
