It's excellent to see this 1988 recording from Delos available again. Choros #8 is an amazing work for two pianos and a large orchestra, one of Villa-Lobos's most interesting modernist works. The Fantasia and Uirapuru are also not as well known as they should be (though many people from an earlier generation might have come to know Villa-Lobos's music through Leopold Stokowski's famous recording of Uirapuru). And the Convergencias of Marlos Nobre will appeal to people who buy the disc for the Villa-Lobos pieces.
Recorded in Paraiba, Brazil, August 1988
