Alfred Heller's Ciclo Brasileiro and Cirandas performances on this disc are first class. Heller's insights into Villa-Lobos's music come from his scholarship and his knowledge of Villa-Lobos the man (he was the composer's assistant in the 1950s), as well as his technique. The disc includes a nice mix of smaller pieces.
